How do you store the wine?
Our warehouse is a temperature and humidity controlled facility. This means we keep all our premium wines in their ideal storage environment of 55 degrees at 70% humidity. Our warehouse represents the highest standard of cleanliness and organization to ensure when you receive our wineries’ wine, its quality is assured and exactly what you ordered.
How do you ship the wine?
The first step of shipping wine is hand picking the bottle from our wine library. Our organized wine library remains at temperatures between 60 to 65 degrees and 60 to 70% humidity. A gradual warming process reduces the chances of your wine experiencing temperature shock during shipping.
Next, we clean your bottle and pack it in biodegradable boxes and packaging made from recycled paper products. After your wine is hand picked, hand cleaned and packaged, UPS picks it up directly from our warehouse in the afternoon, shipping that very evening. Love Washington Wine does not ship on weekends to avoid temperature issues with our shipping partners. Therefore, our wine is always protected in transit.
Why does it cost so much to ship wine?
We do not make any profit from shipping your wine (the charges you see for shipping are only for shipping). The cost of shipping covers the added fees required for shipping alcohol. UPS requires a fee for shipping alcohol because your package needs an adult's signature and the process of shipping alcohol includes a few regulatory speed bumps.
We use only quality materials to pack the wine shipped from our warehouse. Our boxes and packaging are made from recycled paper products and are completely biodegradable. These materials are not only environmentally safe but they are house friendly too! This means no Styrofoam or messy peanuts that always end up everywhere but your garbage can.
The most expensive aspect of shipping is weight. A single bottle of wine weighs three to four pounds, and actually costs the most to ship. When ordering wine, it is most cost effective to order at least three bottles at a time. Ordering by case units is the most cost effective way to go.
Where can you ship wine?
The shipping laws in the United States are very unusual and vary from state to state. Several states prohibit the direct shipment of wine via UPS to consumers. However, despite these hurdles, there are many states we can ship to. Click here to see a map of the states we're currently shipping to.
